5 Ways To Make Your Blog Post Stand Out
11.8.16
As bloggers, we create content to be seen. There is nothing worse than spending so much time creating a quality blog post and then not receiving the traffic you would expect. Don't worry, I have a few tips and tricks to share that might help you increase your blog traffic.
1. BEAUTIFUL PICTURES
You could have the most helpful, incredible content, but if you don't have a good quality photo, people will most likely not click on your post. Unfortunately, we do judge a book by its cover, so give your best when working on your main photograph. I always try to keep it colorful and eye-watching.Also, make sure that your photo has a decent resolution and it's quite crisp. You don't have to have a DSLR or the most expensive camera. Your phone can take amazing shots if you have good lighting. If it's still not bright enough you can fix the brightness, contrast, saturation and more with editing apps. I have a post dedicated to editing blog photos which you can find here.
2. ENGAGING TITLE
This could either get your post to be one of the first few when people are searching for that topic or it could put your post at the end of the list. You need to think of possible keywords people are looking for, and add them to your title. I like to search variations of titles I have in mind and the one with the most number of results is the chosen one. Because that means a lot of people are using those exact words when searching.
Another option is to come up with a funny title or something that will spark people's curiosity. Puns can be your best friend! Just do not clickbait, this might get you page views but will make people not trust your blog and what you have to say.
3. SEO
If you started your blog recently, you probably run to the hills when you hear about SEO. I know I certainly did. However, it is not as scary as it seems. There are a lot of websites out there that will explain it in a simple way.
You can start by renaming all of your photos. They're usually "IMG_123", so change them to "your-blog-post-title". The more information you add to your file name, the higher the chance of Google making your image show up in the top searches.
4. RELEVANT/TRENDING TOPIC
I know some people don't like the idea of jumping on internet trends. But let's be honest, that will drive a lot of traffic to your blog. You don't necessarily have to talk about a trend, it could be something that is always relevant. For instance, I noticed with my blog, that my most viewed posts are about MAC lipsticks. So I often do reviews on MAC lipsticks. It's all about finding out what people are looking for.
5. BE HELPFUL
Adding value to people's lives is a great way to get them to click on your post. We all have questions and we all have answers, so why not trade information?! Let's say you're an expert on SEO, them you can do several posts about the subject. If you've grown your blog fast or your YouTube channel, explain how you did that. If you know how to use Photoshop, do a step by step on it. There are a lot of possibilities, all you need to do is take a moment to realize what you're good at.
What do you think makes your blog stand out from the crowd?
